How to Pack Mattresses
Transporting mattresses requires proper preparation – they are large, flexible, and prone to getting dirty, easily sustaining mechanical damage or absorbing moisture.
1The mattress must be dry and clean
- ✓We do not ship damp or soiled mattresses.
- ✓Before packing, check that the mattress is completely dry.
- ✓Stains, odour, or signs of moisture disqualify a mattress from transport.
2Wrapping and protection
- ✓Wrap the mattress in stretch film – tightly, at least 3 layers.
- ✓Add a layer of bubble wrap for cushioning, especially on corners.
- ✓Protect corners and longer edges with foam, cardboard, or extra layers of bubble wrap.
- ✓Each layer should be well secured with packing tape.
3Never fold a mattress!
- ✓The mattress must be transported flat or upright – always in one piece.
⚠️
DO NOT fold the mattress in half! This can permanently damage its structure (especially spring mattresses).
4Sealing and labelling
- ✓After wrapping with stretch and bubble film, use wide packing tape to secure.
- ✓Label the shipment: „WARNING – MATTRESS – DO NOT BEND".
- ✓Add label: „DO NOT THROW", „FRAGILE".
