Upholstered Furniture
Transporting upholstered furniture (couches, sofas, armchairs, poufs, corner sofas) requires proper protection due to their size, weight, and delicate surface.
1Best option: original packaging
The safest way to transport upholstered furniture is in its original manufacturer packaging.
- ✓Original packaging provides full protection tailored to the shape of the furniture.
- ✓If you do not have the original – proceed to the next steps.
2Preparing the furniture
- ✓Remove legs, cushions, and decorative elements – pack them separately.
- ✓Empty compartments and drawers.
- ✓Check that the furniture is dry and clean.
⚠️
Furniture that is damp, dirty, infested with bed bugs, or mouldy will not be accepted for transport.
3Surface protection
- ✓Protect corners and edges with cardboard or foam – these are most prone to damage.
- ✓Wrap the upholstered surface with a blanket, fabric, or bubble wrap.
- ✓Wrap everything in stretch film – at least 3–4 layers.
- ✓Stretch film protects against dirt, dust, and scuffs.
4Corner sofas (convertible)
- ✓Separate the corner sofa into modules if possible – this reduces its size.
- ✓Wrap each module separately in stretch film.
- ✓Number the modules – this makes reassembly easier.
- ✓Secure folding mechanisms with tape to prevent accidental opening.
💡
Take photos of the furniture and how it folds before disassembly – this will help with reassembly.
5Leather and faux leather
- ✓Leather furniture requires special care – do not place bubble wrap directly on leather.
- ✓First wrap with clean fabric, then bubble wrap, and finally stretch film.
- ✓Avoid contact with sharp objects and adhesive tape directly on leather.
