How to pack mattresses
Transporting mattresses requires proper preparation – these are large, flexible items sensitive to dirt that are easily mechanically damaged or absorb moisture.
1The mattress must be dry and clean
- ✓We do not ship damp or dirty mattresses.
- ✓Before packing, check that the mattress is completely dry.
- ✓Stains, odour or signs of moisture disqualify the mattress from transport.
2Wrapping and protection
- ✓Wrap the mattress in stretch film – tightly, min. 3 layers.
- ✓Add a layer of bubble wrap as cushioning, especially at the corners.
- ✓Protect corners and longer edges with foam, cardboard or additional layers of bubble wrap.
- ✓Each layer should be well secured with packing tape.
3Never fold the mattress!
- ✓The mattress must be transported flat or upright – always in one piece.
⚠️
DO NOT FOLD the mattress in half! This can permanently damage the structure (especially spring mattresses).
4Sealing and labelling
- ✓After wrapping with stretch film and bubble wrap, use wide packing tape to secure.
- ✓Label the shipment: "CAUTION – MATTRESS – DO NOT BEND".
- ✓Add labels: "DO NOT DROP", "FRAGILE".
