How to pack pallets

Proper preparation of a pallet for transport is crucial for the safety of your shipment. Road transport requires solid securing of the cargo, which is reloaded, repositioned and stored under various conditions.

1Choose the right pallet

For road transport, EURO pallets (120×80 cm) or industrial pallets (120×100 cm) are most commonly used.

  • The pallet must be dry, clean, without mould, cracks or missing boards.
  • Only fully functional pallets that ensure stability are accepted.
  • EURO pallet: 120×80 cm, load capacity up to 1500 kg.
  • Industrial pallet: 120×100 cm, load capacity up to 2500 kg.
  • Half pallet: 80×60 cm, load capacity up to 500 kg.

2Loading goods onto the pallet

  • Arrange goods evenly, not exceeding the edges of the pallet.
  • Heavier items at the bottom, lighter ones higher up.
  • Build a layered, rectangular, compact block – this makes wrapping with film easier.
  • Do not leave empty spaces between items.
  • If you cannot achieve a uniform shape, use dividers, fillers or lattices.
⚠️

Protruding elements may be damaged during loading and put other shipments at risk.

3Wrapping with stretch film

  • The film should be 17–23 microns thick.
  • Start wrapping from the base of the pallet – wrap around the bottom boards for stabilisation.
  • Wrap at least 3–4 layers, secure the top and bottom with an additional layer.
  • The film must be taut but not excessively compressing the goods.
💡

Place cardboard or a board on top of the pallet to protect the contents from pressure from above.

4Labels and documents

  • Label the pallet with the sender and recipient details.
  • Add warning stickers: "DO NOT STACK", "HANDLE WITH CARE" – if required.
  • Place transport documents in a transparent sleeve on the side of the pallet.

5Important restrictions

⚠️

Maximum weight of a pallet handled by tail lift: 1000 kg.

⚠️

Pallets over 1000 kg or wider than 220 cm may require special conditions – contact us.
