Motorcycle Transport Preparation Instructions
Transporting a motorcycle is a complex and demanding process that requires proper preparation and protection. To ensure your motorcycle reaches its destination safely and without damage, we ask that you follow the guidelines below. At Speedpack, we always strive to handle every motorcycle with the utmost care β and your assistance in proper preparation helps us do just that.
Clean the Motorcycle
- Wash off any dirt, mud, or oil. A clean surface helps inspect for any pre-existing damage.
- Dry the vehicle thoroughly, especially in colder seasons.
Remove Loose Parts and Accessories
- Detach mirrors, side bags, GPS mounts, or any removable accessories.
- Place them in a separate box or secure them tightly to the motorcycle if they must remain attached.
Secure the Handlebars and Front Wheel
- Position the handlebars straight and lock them in place.
- If possible, secure the front wheel to prevent rotation during transit.
Drain Excess Fluids
- Reduce the amount of fuel in the tank to a minimum.
- If the motorcycle is not brand new, also check for any fluid leaks and address them before transport.
Mounting and Securing the Motorcycle
- Ideally, the motorcycle should be mounted by the sender on a stand or crate pallet. This ensures stable and secure placement.
- However, Speedpack also provides professional transport cages for motorcycles, so even if the vehicle is not crated, we will ensure its safety during transit.
- Our cages are designed to minimize movement and prevent tipping or damage.
Protect Sensitive Areas
- Use soft covers or foam to protect areas like the fuel tank, fenders, and mirrors.
- If transporting alongside other cargo, separate the motorcycle using barriers or padding to prevent contact damage.
Documentation and Inspection
- Prepare documents such as ownership proof or invoices if required.
- Photograph the motorcycle from all sides prior to shipment to document its condition.
- Remove or disable any alarm systems that may activate during transport.
